Chedi Andermatt, a luxury resort hotel in the Swiss Alps, announced on Friday that it will start allowing customers to pay for accommodation with Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The five-star hotel owned by Egyptian billionaire Samih Sawiris said it will consider accepting other cryptocurrencies as payment in the future.

Chedi Andermatt opened in 2013 and has 123 rooms and suites. The price is as low as CHF 1,300 per night during peak seasons.

The hotel began considering cryptocurrency as a payment option four years ago, but only announced it when it was able to ensure the security of the transaction.

To this end, the hotel will cooperate with payment service provider Worldline and Swiss encryption service provider Bitcoin Suisse. To avoid the risk of price fluctuations, any cryptocurrency payments received by the hotel will be immediately converted into Swiss francs.
